ATLANTA – Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that Darrion Deneen Lucius, 39, of Atlanta, Georgia, has been arrested on charges of Insurance Fraud and Forgery. Investigators with the Office of Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire allege that Lucius reported a burglary to the Dunwoody Police Department, claiming more than $18,000 worth of personal belongings had been stolen. Lucius subsequently filed an insurance claim with Lemonade Insurance for the reported losses. During the claims process, Lucius allegedly attempted to substantiate the reported losses by submitting a counterfeit bank statement as proof of purchase. Warrants were obtained for insurance fraud and forgery in DeKalb County on January 8, 2026 for Lucius’ arrest. “Insurance fraud is not a victimless crime, and those who attempt to manipulate the system through fraudulent documents will be held accountable,” said Commissioner King. “I am proud of our investigators and our law enforcement partners for their work in bringing this case forward.” Lucius was arrested by the Cobb County Police Department on July 22, 2026, on unrelated charges. On August 3, Lucius was transferred to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office where he currently remains in custody.
