Privacy Act of 1974; System of Records

Tuesday, October 6, 2026

Plain English Summary

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) has decided to remove two record systems related to job applicants from its list of records protected under the Privacy Act of 1974. These systems, which were used to manage applications for jobs at the FDIC, are being eliminated because they duplicate information already covered by a broader government record system managed by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. Insurance agents should be aware that these changes do not affect their operations, but they should stay informed about any updates related to privacy regulations.

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) is rescinding two systems of records from its existing inventory of systems of records subject to the Privacy Act of 1974. The FDIC systems of records titled FDIC-001, Honors Attorney Applicant Records, and FDIC-011, Corporate Applicant Recruiting, Evaluating, and Electronic Referral Records, were established to support the recruiting and evaluating of applicants for FDIC employment. FDIC-001 and FDIC-011 are being rescinded because they have been identified as duplicative of a government-wide system of records notice published by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management.
