Trump Administration Announces $8 Million for 28 Rural Healthcare Providers to Strengthen Healthcare Across Texas
These investments will support the rural healthcare workforce, improve medical equipment and facilities, and help prevent and manage chronic disease across Texas
Today, the Trump Administration announced $8 million in Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP) funding to 28 rural healthcare providers through the Rural Texas Strong initiative. This investment will support chronic disease prevention, improved health outcomes, recruitment and retention of healthcare professionals, and medical equipment and facility improvements to expand access to high-quality care across rural Texas.
This transformational funding will help rural providers prevent and manage chronic conditions, including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and chronic respiratory disease; recruit and retain physicians, emergency medical personnel, and other healthcare professionals; replace aging medical equipment; and improve existing facilities. Together, these investments will help rural providers maintain essential services and bring quality healthcare closer to home for rural Texans.
The Rural Health Transformation Program is expanding access to quality healthcare, regardless of a patient’s ZIP code, while equipping first responders with the lifesaving resources they need when every second counts. This funding will make critical investments to strengthen rural healthcare, expand access to lifesaving services, and bring modern technology to communities across Texas.
“President Trump understands that every American deserves high-quality healthcare, no matter where they live,”
said Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.
“We are putting resources directly into rural communities to strengthen the health workforce, modernize infrastructure, expand access, and bring care closer to home. We are giving states the flexibility to build solutions around the people they serve, while demanding accountability for results. That is how we strengthen rural health, improve the lives of patients and families, and Make America Healthy Again.”
“President Trump made a historic commitment to rural America, and these investments are turning that commitment into better care for patients in communities across Texas,”
said Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz.
“This is what rural health transformation should look like: federal investment that is putting patients first, driving lasting improvements and expanding healthcare for the hardworking Americans who call these communities home.”
Today’s investment was made possible through the Working Families Tax Cuts Act — passed by Republicans in Congress and unanimously opposed by Democrats — delivering a historic $50 billion investment to help states transform the way healthcare is delivered in America.
“Your address should not determine the quality of care you receive,”
said Gov. Greg Abbott.
“Rural Texas will not be left behind. This more than $8 million investment will expand access to care, strengthen facilities across Texas communities, and help to recruit and retain the next generation of healthcare professionals.”
“The Working Families Tax Cuts Act made the single largest investment in rural health care in more than two decades,”
said Sen. John Cornyn
. “I was proud to support this legislation, now law, to establish the Rural Health Transformation Program, and I am glad to see this additional $8 million in funding to help Texans access care across the Lone Star State.”
“This investment is critical to Texans, and I applaud CMS and Administrator Oz for approving it. The decision is a recognition that the needs of rural Texas communities should be met, and these resources will strengthen rural hospitals, expand access to high-quality care, and help Texans in every part of our state get the healthcare they need. I was proud to work alongside my colleagues in the Texas delegation to secure this funding,”
said Sen. Ted Cruz.
“Strong rural healthcare starts with the doctors, nurses, and staff who keep our clinics open, and this funding will help Texas providers recruit and retain them. More families will get quality care close to home, and I was proud to secure this funding through the Working Families Tax Cuts Act,”
said Rep. Nathaniel Moran.
“Where you live shouldn’t determine the quality of care you receive. This $8 million investment in workforce development, community-based care, and facility improvements will expand access to affordable, high-quality healthcare for underserved rural communities across Texas,”
said Rep. Lance Gooden.
“I’m grateful that Texas is receiving another record investment in rural healthcare. Too many rural Texans still face long drives and limited options when they need care. This $8 million investment through the Rural Texas Strong initiative will help them recruit and retain healthcare workers,
